The eight winning organizations will receive funding for a variety of projects and programs that benefit the welfare of small animals throughout North America. Grant winners are chosen for excellence in the areas of educational outreach, public awareness, and project impact, measured by scope of volunteerism and number of animals served. “We are pleased to announce this year’s grant recipients,” said John Miller, President and Founder of Oxbow. “The applicant pool for this year’s grant program was larger and more competitive than ever. The winning organizations represent excellence when it comes to the rehabilitation and welfare of small animals. We are honored to support their efforts.” "Critter Camp Exotic Pet Sanctuary is honored to be chosen as a recipient of the Oxbow Rescue Grant 2009,” said Beth Randall, Director of the Critter Camp Exotic Pet Sanctuary in German Valley, Illinois. “Literally thousands of people will be enriched by the information we will now be able to provide due to the generosity of Oxbow Animal Health." Julia Hinrichs, President of Texas Rustlers Guinea Pig Rescue, expressed similar sentiments. “The staff at Texas Rustlers Guinea Pig Rescue is thrilled to be a recipient of Oxbow’s 2009 Education/Outreach Support Grant, as this enables us to blend hands-on presentations with the latest technology to provide accurate, precise information about small animal care to various audiences,” said Hinrichs.
